Wax Carving Workshops

Have you ever wanted to create your very own piece of jewellery?

I hold regular wax carving workshops throughout the year where you get to learn the beautiful and ancient art of wax carving to create your own unique piece.

Your finished piece will then be professionally cast into a metal of your choice and polished to perfection by me before sending it back to you to treasure forever.

Whether you’re an avid crafter, or complete beginner, these classes are perfect for all levels.

I offer private group sessions that are ideal for hen dos, baby showers, birthdays and other celebratory occasions. For something a little more intimate, I also run private 1-1 and couples sessions where you can create your own wedding bands or a meaningful piece for your partner. You can choose from rings, pendants or charms, tailored to your tastes. If you’d like a bespoke package or to discuss options in more detail, please get in touch using the form at the bottom of this page.

Casting costs - payable after the workshop once you have decided which metal you would like to have your piece in.

Brass - £50

Silver - £75

Gold - priced per piece

These prices are for standard size rings. If your designs are particularly chunky by design, there may be additional costs. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me before booking.

Please see my workshop page for further information on the classes.

Do I need any experience?

None at all, many of my students have never done anything like this before, and all make amazing pieces. My students with very little crafting experience always surprise themselves with their final piece too. The most common feedback I get is how relaxing the sessions are. I love to create a calm, friendly and inviting environment for you to really explore and have fun with your creative side. Many of us don’t get time to sit and craft with our busy lives, so this is the perfect opportunity to take some time out for yourself and learn something new.

Where are they held, and how long do they take?

I currently hold group workshops at either Kemerton Coffee House or Showborough House, both in the Tewkesbury area. They take place in the afternoons, and I provide refreshments and light snacks. Please let me know of any dietary requirements or allergies when booking so I can accommodate them. They last for three hours, which always flys by!

For private group and couple sessions I can be flexible. If you have a space near you that you would like to hire, I am happy to travel up to 10 miles from Worcester.

How much does it cost?

The workshops themselves are £75 per person which include all materials, tools, refreshments and snacks. I then provide options for your piece to be cast into a metal of your choice.

Due to the rising costs of silver and gold, I have added brass as an option for 2026.

Brass - £50

Silver - £75

Gold - Priced individually

Please note - additional charges may be incurred for large pieces. I will always go through this at the beginning of the session so you can keep within the weight should you wish.

Cancellation policy - if you cannot make the workshop please get in contact with me as soon as possible. You are welcome to move to another workshop up to a month before, however, after this the booking fee is non-refundable as I will have already bought all the materials.

When will I get my piece back?

All the pieces are taken to my professional casters in the Jewellery Quarter within 2-3 days of the workshop. The casting process itself takes around 5-7 days, I then personally finish and polish each piece ready to post back to you. Please allow 2-3 weeks for the whole process. Unfortunately, due to the time and tools needed, finishing is not something I currently offer my students to do. I do however, explain the casting process to you so you can understand the steps your piece takes to be completed.

Who will be teaching me?

I (Pip) will be holding the workshops - I have been working with wax for the last 6 years, and created my first collection, Finding Calm in the Chaos, using this method. You get this freedom when working in wax that I find you don’t get in metal, more room to explore without worrying about waste, easy fixes if you make a mistake and simple tools that provide fantastic textures. It’s forgiving, and uncomplicated which is a welcome break from the intensities of working with precious metals.

After finishing my studies at the School of Jewellery, I went on to work in, and eventually run the casting department there. It was here that I really fell in love with this alchemic process. I was on hand to help the students explore and play with the vast possibilities (and some limitations) this method provides. I also gained experience in using this method for mass production which is used widely in the industry.
